The Delegation of the Montenegrin Pan-European Union attended the conference of the Bavarian Paneuropa, which was held from 22 to 24 November 2019 in Furth im Wald (GER) and Pilsen (CZ).

The conference was dedicated to Montenegro: “From outsiders to frontrunners: Montenegro on its way to the European Union”. Panelists discussed diverse topics in the areas of security policy, development policy as well as the coexistence of different religions and ethnic groups, external influences, progress and problems in the EU accession process. The MPEU delegation consisted of: Vladimir Drobnjak (MPEU Presidency), Radovan Ognjenović who addressed the gathering, Nina Perunović (Youth Presidency) and Una Vukotić (MPEU Member).

Montenegro’s chief negotiator with the European Union, Mr Aleksandar Drljevic, was also present at the conference, pointing out that: “A credible enlargement policy is a strategic investment in European security and prosperity and has contributed to peace and stability in the Western Balkans in recent years. Despite internal challenges, the EU must continue with a consistent enlargement policy towards our region and I really hope that we will soon have a positive signal towards opening the last negotiating chapter with Montenegro, but also opening negotiations with Northern Macedonia and Albania. ”
