MAYOR STIJEPOVIĆ HOSTED THE DELEGATION OF THE MONTENEGRIN PAN-EUROPEAN UNION

The Mayor of Podgorica Mr. Slavoljub Stijepović and his associates received today representatives of the Montenegrin Pan-European Union, with whom he was discussing the establishment of cooperative framework between this organization and the Capital City.
The President of the Union, Gordana Đurović, briefly outlined the goals of this organization, which is at the same time part of the International Pan-European Union, the oldest organization that cherishes corpus of European values.
Bearing in mind the strategic goals of Montenegro, both sides agreed that the organization of this type must have strong support and partnership of both state and local institutions.

Stressing the values supported by the Montenegrin branch of this well-known international organization – intensive work on the valorization of Montenegrin cultural values, advocacy for the overall development and prosperity of Montenegro, as well as the preservation of the multi-national and multi-confessional harmony, are the ones that the City’s Governing body is strongly supporting. Thus, the Mayor Stijepović supported the proposal to establish cooperation between the Montenegrin Pan-European Union and the Capital City.
The key themes in the fields of tourism, culture, economy, ecology, sustainable development and environmental protection were stressed in the meeting, within which there exist room for establishing and concretizing cooperation, which will be formalized by signing the memorandum.
Mayor Stjepović estimated that for a successful process of European integration it is important that all spheres of society give concrete contribution. To this end, for Podgorica and Montenegro, cooperation with the reputable international organization of which the Montenegrin Pan-European Union is a member, is highly important, and in that direction, on both sides, concrete steps should be taken to make it not only formalized, but also more fulfilled and intensified.

The representatives of the Municipality of Tivat highlighted the previous experiences, practices and achieved results when it comes to cross-border cooperation projects, and close cooperation with twin cities and the adoption of efficient models of work in the fields of tourism and economy. The meeting was attended by the General Secretary Vladan Lalović, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Adrijan Vuksanović, the member of the Court of Honor Zvonimir Deković and the coordinator of the Committee for Tourism, Đorđije Brajović, from the MPEU delegation.
