High Representative Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn presented the European Commission's Strategy for the enlargement of the European Union for the Western Balkans.
It covers six countries: Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. All of them must be unambiguously committed, said the Commission, keen on overcoming the burden of the past, reconciliation, and resolving open issues, especially those around delimitation.Montenegro and Serbia, through active negotiations, reached the farthest on the road to membership by 2025, but this will depend on reforms and political will, the European Commission said.
The guest in Podgorica studio of AlJazeera Balkans is Gordana Djurovic, professor at the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica, former Minister of European Integration of Montenegro and President of MPEU, who spoke about this Strategy and implications for WB6.
