On May 17 and 18, the Montenegrin Pan-European Union organized a two-day workshop in Bar entitled “Montenegro’s preparations for EU regional policy”. This activity is part of the project “Visegrad Group Supports Montenegro and Serbia in the Preparation for the EU Regional policy” and gathered enthusiastic Pan-Europeans, professors, employees of ministries, local governments, as well as students.

The aim of the workshop was to provide a comprehensive overview and exchange of experiences on Montenegro’s preparations for the adoption and implementation of EU regional policy. The participants had the opportunity to take part in interactive sessions and discussions where they touched upon the various challenges faced by Montenegro in its attempt to follow the European path and the latest trends in the field of regional politics.

The speakers shared their knowledge and experiences on the implementation of EU policies, with special reference to pre-accession support instruments in the areas of infrastructure, regional development and agriculture. In addition, they presented the results of a survey conducted among users and representatives of institutions, which aimed to identify key challenges and opportunities in the use of these instruments.

A special focus was on the comparative experience of Serbia in these areas, which allowed the participants to gain a broader perspective. The workshop also enabled networking and exchange of ideas among the participants, which further contributed to the quality of discussions and conclusions.

The completion of this project is planned for June 7, when the final conference will be held. At this event, all previous results and conclusions will be presented, as well as further steps in Montenegro’s preparations for EU regional policy.
