Strong support for Ukraine from Montenegro: There is no competition on the European path, only solidarity

President of the Montenegrin Pan-European Union, prof. Gordana Đurović PhD, in an interview with the Jean-Jaurès Foundation, the Austro-French Center for European Approach, spoke about the European Union’s enlargement policy and the impact of the war in Ukraine on European integration.

“Montenegro supports Ukraine’s application for EU membership, as well as Moldova and Georgia’s. There is special support for Ukraine, which is at war caused by Russia’s aggression, and the acceptance of the application is primarily an expression of European solidarity and support for the people of Ukraine, fighting for the preservation of their state.”

“We all know that the journey to membership is long and depends on two groups of factors, those in the country itself and those within the EU. So for us, this new accession trio from the Eastern Neighborhood, i.e., their applications are not competition and we support their efforts to find their European integration path. ”
