The final thematic panel of the international conference “Enlarging Europe, Greening and Securing Europe: Autonomy, Prosperity and Strategic Resilience” brought together representatives of the Pan-European network from across Europe for a discussion on the future of European cooperation and the challenges facing Europe in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
Under the title “Autonomy, Prosperity and Strategic Resilience of Europe: Pan-European Context and the European Union,” the panel addressed Europe’s strategic autonomy and resilience, economic prosperity, the future of European integration and the role of enlargement in strengthening the European project.
The discussion featured Polina Vekova, PEU Austria; Vanja Gavran, PEU Croatia; Andrej Lepavcov, PEU Macedonia; Christian Hoferer, PEU Germany; and Gordana Đurović, PEU Montenegro. The panel was moderated by Teodora Lađić.
Bringing together perspectives from EU Member States, Montenegro and the wider region, the discussion highlighted different experiences and views on how Europe can respond to contemporary political, economic and security challenges while preserving cooperation, solidarity and a credible perspective for further European integration.
Particular attention was devoted to the relationship between European resilience and enlargement, as well as to the contribution that the Pan-European movement and cooperation across national borders can make to the wider debate on Europe’s future.
The panel concluded the substantive discussions of the conference by connecting its three central themes – enlargement, the green transition and strategic resilience – within a broader debate on Europe’s future and the role of Montenegro and the region in that process.
